2025 Feast of the Corpus Christi – The Source of Our Nourisment

St. Paul is passing on to us the Tradition of the Eucharist that was taught by Christ himself. That is Tradition. Now let’s look at the Gospel from Luke chapter 9. We will see here the feeding of the 5,000.

The setting is the northern shore of Galilee. The people, the crowd, have been listening to Jesus from morning till late afternoon. 5,000 of them, 5,000 plus women and children.

But then there was a problem. It was already late in the afternoon. The people were already tired and hungry.

So the problem was brought by the disciples to Jesus. The people were hungry and tired. Listen to what the apostles said as a solution.

Their solution is, send them away. Tell them to go home. And what did Jesus say as a solution? Jesus said, you help them.

You give them something to eat. There are only 12 disciples and there are 5,000 plus people. How are they going to possibly help these people? They looked and what they found was 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

And they gave the 5 loaves and the 2 fish to Jesus. And what did Jesus do? He blessed the food, broke them, and He gave each one of the disciples. And they went to feed the people, 5,000 plus.
