2024 Trinity Sunday – God is love, a relationship of persons

I don’t believe that God is like an old man with a beard up in the sky behind the clouds and making moral demands on us. I believe rather in a Trinitarian God. A relationship of persons. A communion of persons. A community of love. Our first reading from the book of Deuteronomy we heard, God revealed HImself to Moses and to the people of Israel not only as their creator but a God guiding their journey through life. In the second reading, St. Paul beautifully reminds us that through the Holy Spirit in us, we know that we are children of the Father. And in the Gospel, Jesus’ farewell message to his disciple is ” All power in heaven and earth has been given to me, go therefore and make disciples to all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them all that I have commanded you and know that I am with you until the end of time.
