The Diocese of Alaminos Pangasinan has its new Bishop
After four years, the Diocese of Alaminos has its new bishop in the person of His Excellency Most Reverend Napoleon B. Sipalay, Jr., O.P., D.D. Today, on the feast of our patron, Saint Joseph, Bishop Sipalay is formally installed as the Fourth Bishop of our diocese.
Napoleon B. Sipalay, OP, DD, is ordained yesterday to the episcopate from the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Rev. Charles John Brown, D. The ordination was attended by the the Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal F. Advincula, OP, DD. at Manaog Basilica.
Rev. Father Sipalay is the fist Dominican bishop in 28 years.- following the late Archbishop Emeritus Leonardo Legaspi of Caceres and the late Auxiliary Bishop Jose Salazar of Lipa. He fills a four-year vacancy in the Diocese of Alaminos, Pangasinan.
A 53-year-old native of Davao, Rev. Sipalay is the outgoing vice-rector of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Central Seminary. He succeeded Ricardo Baccay, who was named archbishop of Tuguegarao in 2019.
The ordination was attended by our chaplain Fr. Francis Ofrancia who represented the Diocese of Limburg, Germany.
