Installation of Rev. Fr. Alvin Vince Cruz

“You know what. When a priest sees his parishioner very happy, that makes him also very happy. Sana masaya po kayo.

My dear brothers and sisters, thank you for gathering here today to celebrate this Holy Eucharist and to witness my installation as your chaplain in this community. I am profoundly grateful to God for this new calling and the opportunity to serve in this vibrant Filipino Catholic community.

Like my previous parish assignment, back then newly ordained priest at the St. Raymond of Peñafort Parish in Mangatarem, Pangasinan, I approach this moment with a mix of fear, excitement, and uncertainty about what lies ahead. Yet, I am comforted by the knowledge that I can rely on God’s will to guide me. Sa dami pa naman ng pinagdaanan ko bago mapunta dito sa Deutschland. Bakit pa ako susuko kung ito ay nilaan. Bakit pa ako susuko at hihindi kung ito ay nilaan at pinlano ng Diyos.

It was during our clergy annual retreat way back in 2024 in Baguio City, when my Bishop, Bishop June, Hello Bishop June, he is watching in our live streaming siguro. When Bishop June asked me if I am willing to be the next chaplain of this community, I simply said to him, yes po, Bishop. But my response was because of my promise of obedience to him that I made during my ordination. To tell you honestly, I was not prepared for this mission and was not able to sleep that night. I started to ponder one question. What is God’s will for me to be again here in Deutschland?

While the answers may not yet be clear, I am confident that this journey will be an adventure rooted in faith, hope, and love. I also thank Father Francis of Francia, my brother priest, for his six years of service and guiding you towards Jesus. Your guidance, Father, and your patience and your inspiring homilies have touched countless lives and strengthened this community in the ways that words can hardly express.

As you go back to our home diocese, please know that you carry with you their deepest appreciation and prayers.
