Installation of Father Alvin – Our New Chaplain
The assignment of priests to parishes and dioceses is a structured process governed by cannon law. It is less of a “job application” process or an option of the clergy but more of a “missionary deployment” based on the vow of obedience.
The central figure in priest assignments is the Diocesan Bishop. He has the authority to freely provide for the assignment of offices in his particular diocese, parishes and communities abroad.
Who is Father Alvin?
In the heart of the Diocese of Alaminos, Pangasinan, the local Church continues to grow through the dedication of its clergy. Among those serving the faithful is Rev. Fr. Alvin Nismal Vince Cruz, a priest whose journey reflects a deep commitment to the universal mission of the Gospel—a mission that is now calling him across the seas.
Born on June 25, 1989, Fr. Alvin’s roots are firmly planted in Pangasinan soil. His academic journey began in Lingayen, where he attended Lingayen I Central Elementary School (Batch 2000) and later graduated from Pangasinan National High School in 2005.
His call to the priesthood manifested early, leading him through a comprehensive minor and major seminary formation in Mary Help of Christians College Seminary (Dagupan City): 2006–2007; St. Joseph College Seminary (Alaminos City): 2007–2009 and Colegio San Jose de Alaminos Inc. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 2009 and Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Theology at Immaculate Conception School of Theology, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur in 2018.
Before his ordination to the Deaconate, Father Alvin has little exposure in Germany serving as a Youth Volunteer at the Kindergarten Caritas Bad Homburg Germany (2019-2020).
His journey to the priesthood reached its peak during a pivotal time for the global Church- ordained deacon in October 22, 2020 and became a priest in November 9, 2021.
Under the guidance of his Local Ordinary, Most Rev. Napoleon B. Sipalay Jr., OP, DD, Fr. Alvin began his life as a “fisher of men”. where he was first assigned as Parochial Vicar at St. Raymond of Peñafort Parish, Mangatarem, Pangasinan from 2021—2024. He became a Guest Priest at St. Joseph Cathedral Parish, Alaminos City before he studied German language in Manila to heed the call to serve the Filipino Catholic Communities, Diocese of Limburg, Germany as their Chaplain.
Fr. Alvin will be formally installed on April 26, 2026, as the Chaplain of the Filipino Catholic Communities in the Diocese of Limburg, Germany.
This transition marks a beautiful bridge between the Philippines and Germany, as he brings the warmth and devotion of Filipino faith to the faithful abroad.
Herzlich Willkommen, Fr. Alvin!
We extend our warmest congratulations on this challening and holy appointment. As you embark on this new journey in the Diocese of Limburg, may the Holy Spirit guide your steps and bless your ministry among our fellow Filipinos in Germany. Good luck and Godspeed on your new mission!
