First Sunday of Advent 2024 – Let us prepare our heart for the coming of the Lord

The season of Advent invites us to slow down. This is a time for us to pause, come to church, attend the Mass, receive the sacraments, so that when we reach that high point of our celebration on Christmas, our hearts are ready. Because we have prepared a place in our heart and in our life to meet God, to meet the Lord.

In this season of Advent, my dear friends, we focus on our hope to meet God. And this is done not only by seeing the Lord as our future destiny. We have to see the Lord not only as our future destiny to meet Him in Heaven, as He is still far away, but we have to see God as someone we can meet now.

And we meet the One who truly loves us. And so Advent is a perfect time to clear and to prepare our hearts. And by reflection and prayer, and by reading and meditating on the Word of God, and by receiving the Lord in the Holy Eucharist, we can make our hearts a place where we will meet the One who loves us, our Lord and our Savior.
