FCC Altar Servers Educational Pilgrimage to Rome
We need altar servers to enrich the experience of the celebration of the Mass. Altar Servers are members of the assembly who assist the priest during the Eucharist and other liturgical ceremonies so that the liturgy can be conducted with grace and reverence. They are children or teenagers who assist a priest during Mass. Their name comes from the Latin word “ministrare” which means ‘’to serve’’. The Altar Servers therefore carry out various tasks in the context of the Mass.
In addition to various spiritual and liturgical experiences, part of the pastoral care of Altar Servers is to bring them together to participate in activities that will deepen their appreciation of the faith, strengthen their bond, and to support the growth of their faith. About 13 Altar Servers of the Filipino Catholic Community in Frankfurt between the ages of 11 to 20 joined the Educational Pilgrimage in Rome organized by their chaplain, Fr. Francis Ofrancia together with their parents and members of the Council. The small group visited not only the beautiful churches and major papal basilicas symbolizing the rich catholic history but also the famous historical and cultural landmarks in Rome. The highlight of the pilgrimage is the Audience with the Pope in St Peter’s Square wherein they had a close encounter with Pope Francis. Here are some of the photographic shoots from the 3-day Pilgrimage.
