True Meaning of Tolerance

What does it mean to be tolerant?

This applies to religious views and beliefs and sexual orientations/preferences. According Greg Koukl, tolerance means: respect for opinions, beliefs and practices without sharing them (without agreeing with them).

Disagreement is key to tolerance. Without disagreement, tolerance is not true tolerance. Simply because we dont tolerate people we agree with. You are actually on the same side with them.We only tolerate people we disagree with but choose to treat them with respect and kindness.

Nowadays, if you have different opinions on senstive issues like sexual orientation or religious beliefs, you are automatically considered intolerant or transphobic or homophobic or hater.

Woke culture today: respect means you need to share their beliefs, celebrate and even promote their views. Tolerance no longer means treating people with civility and respect even when we disagree with them.
