The October Rosary Devotion and Parade of the Saints

October is the month which the Catholic Church dedicates to the Holy Rosary. This conincides with the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary on Oct. 7. Another feast in honor of Mary in October is October 13, the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. The rosary prayer is an important devotion in the Filipino Catholic Community. Every October, the Filipino Catholic Community in the Diocese of Limburg offers a daily rosary online. In Frankfurt, families lead the rosary prayer at 6pm. In Bad Homburg, the members gather every night at 8pm to pray the rosary through zoom. The Wiesbaden Community is doing the daily rosary online all year round.

On October 29, the FCC Frankfurt celebrated the culmination of daily rosary devotion with a procession, solemn mass, floral offering and blessing of rosaries. Afterwards, the festivities continued with the fund raising concert by Fr. James Ucab, a singing priest from the Diocese of Surigao and his brother Jerome Ucab, the grand winner of Star in a Million singing competion in the Philippines in 2005.

The Parade of the Saints was also held wherein some members of the community from kids to adults dressed with special costumes to portray their favourite saints. This practice is part of the celebration ofHalloween. We call October 31, All Hollow´s Eve because it is the eve of All Saints Day which is on November 1. It is the day the Church celebrates with all the people who have died and are now with God in heaven. We do not know the names of all the saints. Some of these people were so much like Jesus that after they died, the Church said they definitely in heaven now.
