Long before Christianity, eggs were a symbol of fertility and rebirth in many ancient cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In spring festivals (especially in European and Middle Eastern traditions), eggs symbolized <strong>new life<\/strong> emerging after the harshness of winter. With the rise of Christianity, early Christians adopted the egg as a <strong>symbol of Jesus&#8217; resurrection<\/strong>. Just as a chick emerges from the egg, Christians saw this as a metaphor for Jesus emerging from the tomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In medieval Europe, people often <strong>gave up eggs during Lent<\/strong> (a 40-day period of fasting before Easter). When Easter came, eggs were a festive treat\u2014often <strong>painted or decorated<\/strong> in celebration. Coloring represents <strong>joy, renewal, and celebration<\/strong>.
