Here is the new regulations at St. Ignatius Church in coordination with the Parish Priest Father Bernd Günther, SJ  as of 26th of November 2021.

Hygienic regulations must be observed during the celebration of religious services. Anyone exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness or who has a fever or other symptoms that may indicate infection with COVID-SARS-2 shall not participate in religious services.

The following applies to indoor services:

  1. Masks are mandatory (medical mask or mask of standards FFP2, KN95 or N95). Those directly involved in the liturgy, such as celebrant, worship leader, lector, cantor, singers, are exempt from the obligation to wear a mask during the direct performance of their duties.
  2. The 3G rule must be applied for admission to the service. Upon entry, it must be checked whether a complete proof of vaccination, a proof of recovery or the test result of a test center (not older than 24 hours) is presented.
  3. Congregational singing is possible. The number of songs and verses should nevertheless be chosen moderately. Good experiences with the participation of cantors and instrumental music should in principle be continued.
  4. Parishes are not obliged to offer services according to the 2G access rule.
  5. In Hesse, the following applies when applying the 2G access rule: The mask obligation is omitted, but not the distance requirement during pilgrimages and processions, make sure that the distances are respected. 9. the holy water basins remain empty.
  6. If several worship services are celebrated consecutively in a church, there shall be a period of one hour between the end and the beginning of each service so that sufficient air exchange can take place during this time. The times of worship must sufficiently take into account this break in ventilation during the service, the distance requirement of 1.5 meters in all directions must be observed. Up to ten persons from different household groups may sit together. When applying this 10-person rule, it is a prerequisite that these are household communities that are also otherwise connected, e.g. relatives and friends.
  7. Musical accompaniment in the church may be provided by a vocal group in addition to the organ or individual instruments. The size of the singing group is measured by the minimum distance of 1.5 meters that must be maintained by each person in all directions (except to an immediate back wall or the like), and 3 meters in the direction of singing to the leader of the group.
